challenge of love.

the command of love is one not to be taken lightly. love sounds so simple on the surface. but digging into scripture shows how great a challenge it is to exhibit biblical love.

God’s command is to love each other as we love our self (leviticus 19:18) which is a continuning command. but Christ brought forth a new standard of love: to love one another as Christ has loved us (john 15:12-13). this is not love based on fond acquaintance, but rather a sacrificial love in action. our attitude toward our abilities, time, and money should focus on what we have to offer someone else. we must forgo the commonly held conception of passive love that our culture condones and begin to love others in the passionate and eager way that Jesus Christ himself loved us.

Through brokenness and heartbreak, we have cried together and have witnessed together how God can create beauty and love in places that felt full of desolation.

The world yearns for love. how will you share your love?
